论文摘要
Corporate mergers and acquisitions (M&A) serve as a catalyst for resource reallocation, influencing the spatial distribution of financial resources and fostering regional financial development. Empirically, we document a significant increase in the number of bank branches in the neighborhood of a firm following an M&A event. We identify three primary mechanisms underlying this effect: an M&A-induced cash demand channel, a post-merger demand amplification channel, and an information transparency-enhancement channel. Furthermore, heterogeneity analyses reveal substantial differences in these effects across M&A types, firm characteristics, and regional contexts.
